The building/site has been listed for sale recently so I guess not?

A little out of the way for most reading this thread, but looks like they're finally opening up a Carl's Jr out my way in Port Coquitlam. Just have to wait another year..

Have you been there? I like the burgers, but for the price I think there are better options.

The interior still looks very unfinished, I think it will take a while.

most chipotles are very stark so I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't too far off!

Vancity Buzz is reporting that:
"Chipotle HQ told us via e-mail this newest mecca of burritos is set to open up towards the end of the year."

This Blenz has reopened - don't know if it's the same franchisee or not.

Chipotle in Downtown must be the most disorganized restaurant with the most unattentive staff I have ever been to. Every single time you have to repeat your order several times to ever single employee, as they barely listen to what you say. I understand working in Chipotle being like working on an assembly line, but they pay zero attention to you. And for the love of God, why can't they add a sign next to their guacamole, stating that it is extra price, instead of always mentioning it to every single customer. I also wonder when are they going to get liquor license that their sign has said is pending for over a year now...

Chipotle = bad service and overpriced hipster food, but I have to say that their food is still so good that despite all these annoying things, they are still doing extremely well in Vancouver and also I end up going there once a week. So I guess they don't have to 'care' about the quality of their service as they have a killer product. With that note, I am thinking that franchising a Chipotle restaurant in Vancouver must be the most secure investment one can make in Vancouver.

They do have alcohol now, I believe, but yes, their customer service is atrocious. The person on till often just leaves for extended periods of time while customers are left to stand waiting with no explanation. There is also no attempt at friendliness whatsoever. That being said, they are always busy and it must be stressful for all involved.

It's just a burrito though. I don't see what is particularly "hipster" about that since their clientele is basically everyone. It's like people who say Apple is for hipsters. My 65-year-old mother is a hipster? Really?

Is that the old Moxies location? I guess the Gaglardis are cycling through their restaurant portfolio to see what works there! Do they own that building?

There are rumours that the existing Denny's site will be sold and redeveloped. This move would certainly seem to support that.

The food quality at Chipotle downtown has certainly gone downhill: not as yummy as before somehow.

Some other points they need to improve at:
1. Hire or train better employees.
2. Make sure the staff cleans up the table the place usually looks like a pig's sty and customers need to do their own "clearing and cleaning".
3. Make a separate bin for "recycling", like Wholefoods'.

I did enjoy the place tremendously when it was first opened though.

I would think chipotle is not seeing these issues because the restaurants are performing so well. That said I have noticed the service to be pretty bad there.

(also as an aside, chipotle doesn't have a franchise model, they own and operate their restaurants)

---

My guess with the Denny's is that the company must have a really long term lease on the space and is trying everything before giving up. The denny's down the road is always busy especially with the late night crowd but I really don't think that it will have the same effect when it is not in between major thoroughfares.
