Don't get your hopes up. There is no way they are done reviewing the proposals yet.

Well considering he works for the lead designer for Stantec on the stadium project I would say that it is a good source. However we shall have to wait and see.

The earliest the design plans are made public is late April.

Any guesses as to which proponent will be successful: Graham/Bouygues or PCL?

My money would be on PCL.

Well apparently the succeesful proponent will be announced this week. We will not see the design though. That will have to wait for the deal with the winner including all final tweaks to the design. It sounds like it will be at least April before we see that.

Don't they start construction on the stadium in the spring? Seems like a last minute thing to show the public a few weeks before they start on it.

I as well. Mostly because of HKS Architects incredible portfolio of stadium designs.

It will be a lot uglier, undoubtedly. These things never come out the way they are advertised.

I'm not sure uglier is a good term to use, it's gonna be a brand new $278M stadium, that amount of money doesn't get you ugly. It may look substantially different but it will be mega, that's for sure..

Here's a few samples of their stadium designs, if we get anything that's even in the ball park of these we'll have something great!:

Minnesota:

Texas (looks like a retractable roof):

Indianapolis:

Mexico:

Yes Dallas (AT&T Field) has a retractable roof over the playing surface:

So does Indianapolis (Lusas Oil Field)

Not that it would affect the balls to much as that roof is rather high :p

It sounded like there is to be an 'early works' contract to be awarded prior to full P3 award to get the contractor working on site asap.

That makes sense. Get digging for the depressed playing surface. Same happened with Children's Hospital of Saskatchewan with the parkade at RUH (Royal University Hospital)

They did do a lot of prep work last year, including demo, moving utilities and the cell tower, but there is plenty more to do. They will need to remove the very large concrete slab from the Grain Show Building.

Does anyone know where they will haul the excavated fill? The City should use it to build a berm along the tracks from Elphinstone to Albert IMHO. It is very expensive to haul long distances

This would likely be up to the contractor. I heard of a group that was attempting to offer concrete recycling services (Bins, Bags, Crushing service) in Regina. Not sure if they got off the ground or not.
