Few days ago.

They're talking about (yet) another new kind of concrete in (yet) another marketing term supposed to sound sexy.
Ready for it?

Béton fibré à ultra hautes performances.

Literally "ultra high-efficiency fibered concrete", something like that. Lol.

Don't ask me anyway, I'm no structural engineer. This structure just surely blends concrete and steel as seen on the picture.

La Marseillaise, huh...
Couple of pictures by arno-13 to SSC's French-speaking subforums, a week or so ago.

That's what they call the French national anthem. La Marseillaise. It's also the nickname of this tower to display the colors of the national flag.
Does that feel nationalist? Maybe. I don't know. I don't care by the way. At least, this one will be colorful, right?

As for the 2 remaining towers, residential H99 whose design would be unchanged should begin to rise as of 2019.
While the 3rd was officially scaled down to 56m, twice smaller than originally planned. Construction of that one is to start by late 2017.

Some 4 miles (roughly 7km, they say) away from the site, by Iansolo.

Must be using a zoom of some kind though.

Credit: Iansolo on SSC.

This is 2017 and the skyline still looks so shy... Pisses me off.
Vivement la 3ème tour. Puis la 4ème et ainsi de suite.

Marseille still a sore-thumb skyline. Much of the rest of the city is fabulous, though. Underrated historical gem.

I'm a little worried about the colors. I hope it looks better when the facade is all up.

I'm having a little hard time to gather pictures that would showcase it.
There's a couple from SSC forumers.

From their official Twitter account.

Their Twitter: https://twitter.com/marseillaisetlm?lang=fr

I dunno... Surely unusual but not necessarily bad.
At least, it doesn't try to be like anything else. And the French most often like funky strange things.
Locals don't seem to dislike it.

Actually, architect Jean Nouvel already produced a bit of the same patchwork effect to the tower he designed in Barcelona.

This building is famous. Not everyone would like it, but it's undeniably iconic.

^ That does look pretty nice. I think it looks better from farther away.

Lots of pictures by arno-13 on Fr-speaking SSC.

With all these, everyone can make up their mind now.

This is southernmost Mediterranean France; the sun can be quite a bit crushing for a couple of months a year over there. So there must be some work on the design of the façade to manage light and deal with heat, depending on exposure to the sunlight.
Just as taking the peculiar environment of a given spot into account in the design is a requirement nowadays.

Allez, Marseille !

Allez, allez, là !!

Long live my genuine Republic and its true meritocracy, in spite of the bitter establishment of the retards...
For the sake of my entire sweet country, Marseille will live, shine and show off like a douchebag! Lol.

Stealing these from IndyG, a French mod of SSC, hoping he doesn't mind.

He must have a fair camera and can use it, so these look like accurate pictures.

An odd tower, but I sure like it. For once in this country, we get something colorful.
It's not such an ordinary thing to get something optimistic like plenty of colors.
