I love this building, still and always will be a classic. The one thing they do to trick tourists is with the 102nd floor observatory. People think it's at 1,224'. The 102nd floor is at 1,224' but the observation deck is actually on floor 101 at 1,212' above street level. Interesting though.

Well I always liked to know how high up I was I can't speak for anyone else. Yes the views are fantastic, which is why I pay the extra $15 to go up to the indoor observatory instead of standing on the 86th floor having to squeeze through everyone just to get to see the view lol.

Soon, New York will have two icons, the ESB of course, and 1wtc! People will be able to visit both and enjoy the view of both buildings from the tops!

Exclamation Typo-esb

Hello Folks,

My name is Christian and I am from Germany. In January I was in New York and on the ESB. Inspired by the architecture I created a TYPO-ESB designed with all the relevant facts from the History of the building. My Question to you:
Which Version do you like more? The dark- or the light-ESB? Many thanks for your reply. I hope I'm not wrong in this post.

Best wishes.
Christian

The light one looks like Metropolis (Superman). The dark one looks like Gotham (Batman). My question to you, who's better Batman or Superman?

The Empire State Building is truly a jewel and stands alone for its art deco beauty, it is instantly recognizable and a symbol of NY. Even though it will soon lose its title as NY's tallest to One World Trade Center, its always going to be THE quintessintial skyscraper. I love it.

That would be Tower 111, which actually wrapped up in the early summer of last year.
