Ironically, only two species of palm are native to the entire State of Texas. The Texas Sabal, which grows naturally in South Texas on the coastal prairie & the Dwarf Palmetto which grows naturally in the Piney Woods of East Texas & along the Gulf Coast.
Some palm states, such as California that have far more palm trees than Texas only has one native species. The California Fan.
Florida is just a palm lovers paradise with about 11 different species of native palm trees.
