Not much TOD potential there or density potential due to the presence of the airport and the road network. I would have protected accesses at Hunt Club though and pushed the entrances to the other streets to keep access limited from Hunt Club...after all, it is already over capacity.

Like at least half of those are already at other malls.

Ottawa: place-building and vibrancy through "power centres".

Just today I was venting that Ottawa is usually one of the last cities to get new stores to Canada, usually well after Toronto and Vancouver. Seems we'll be the first for something.

NORDSTROM RACK SECURES ITS FIRST CANADIAN LOCATION IN OTTAWA

Nordstrom Rack has secured its first Canadian location in suburban Ottawa. It will be located in a suburban 'big box' retail centre, as opposed to an outlet mall as might be expected. We've been asked not to reveal the location of the store as not all negotiation details have been finalized.

If you are a retailer or represent a retailer, and you are seriously interested in being located near a Nordstrom Rack store in suburban Ottawa, we could forward your information to the retail centre's leasing manager. Our email is: insider@retail-insider.com.

Nordstrom Rack's Canadian locations will carry both discounted merchandise from its full-priced stores as well as merchandise purchased specifically for Rack locations. Canada could see as many as 20 Nordstrom Rack locations in the next few years.

Keep checking our website as we will be revealing more Canadian Nordstrom Rack details.

Man Nordstrom is not loosing anytime with this canadian expansion.. How many, 5-6 Nordstroms across Canada plus now all of these discount Nordstrom Racks? And all in what, a 1-2 year period? This could either be really good for them (just speed up and steal all the market) or a total flop.

When I first read this the first thing that popped to mind was TANGER Outlets but then it said it wasn't in an outlet mall.. hmm wonder where it might be.. I don't see it going in the market, neither in places like Westboro or South Keys.. so maybe Lansdowne?

I'd expect a few more to pop up, they haven't announced anything for Winnipeg or Edmonton yet.

Lansdowne seems like my best guess, followed by perhaps Merivale Road somewhere? South Keys has no open anchors and no room to expand easily.

I didn't realize that a Nordstrom Rack was so large. Judging by the picture in the link it looks to be the size of a Winners or Marshall's. Just a guess; but what about them opening at one of the two open stores at the new Fairlawn Plaza across from Carlingwood mall? This might not be considered 'suburban ottawa' though ( as per article ).

I thought Nordstrom was opening up at the Rideau Centre where Sears used to be?

From what I read, "Nordstrom Rack" is the name of the outlet / clearance stores of the Nordstrom brand. The store in rideau will be a regular store (simply called "Nordstrom").

$10 says Nordstrum Rack is going to be at Trainyards.

Not sure how much square footage a Nordstrom Rack would want... but is there anything at Trainyards available right now? Or is Nordstrom not wanting to open its Rack locations until the actual Nordstrom is open?

These two buildings have been empty since they remodeled them a couple of years ago. It could be a good spot for a Nordstrom Rack imo.

According to my girlfriend who used to work at Staples, there's lots of structural defects in that building which explains why they've been having a hard time getting other tenants.

Anyone know what they are building in the Kanata Centrum (the one with the Future Shop, Best Buy and Holiday Inn) parking lot across from the CIBC?
