And evidently are 25 - 2 with a 2 goal lead. They could make a very quiet splash in the playoffs.

Looks like the Flames should have had a fire sale today, cause there's no way this team will make the playoffs.

On a positive note, was nice to see them honour MacInnis tonight, easily one of the best d-men the game has seen.

Calgary was on the cusp of being an elite team, but there was something missing. Sadly they never figured out what it was, and those days are most definitely behind them now.

Henrik Lundqvist records his 7th 30+ wins season. Becomes the 9th goaltender to do so (and he's only 29).
Also his third 8+ shutout season.

With a 0.940 sv %, he is on pace to break Thomas' record of 0.938 last year.
Hands down the best goalie in the World, nobody is beating him in a best of 7 series.

If he's good, it means the Habs will usually lit him up.

Just like Thomas, Lundqvist has BY FAR his worst career stats vs Montreal.

GAA: 3.00, sv % 0.895 (second worst is Washington at .905... they were an offensive powerhouse until last year)

EDIT: Same thing for Marc-Andre Fleury... worst career stats vs Montreal as well. Weird how we can lit up good goalies (except Brodeur, he is the exception) but then be completely dead when we play backups.

Oil game tomorrow at 8:00, but TSN has negotiated an exclusive deal with the NHL to show the leafs game from 6-8:30....So Sportsnet isn't allowed to show the Oilers game until 8:30.

awesome.

Yesterday the Calgary Flames release a transcript of the type of calls GM Jay Feaster was receiving on Trade Deadline Day.
Apparently most of the calls went like this:

"Hi Jay, it’s every other GM in the league calling. Lets talk Iginla"
"I can’t… Ken King says he’s golden and he’s got a NMC"
"How about Cammalleri?"
"NTC"
"Tanguay?"
"NTC"
"Jokinen?"
"NTC"
"Glencross?"
"NMC"…Is this a prank call?"
"No Jay…how about Moss or Backlund then?"
"Injured"...(sob)
"So you have nothing of value at Forward to trade me Jay?"
"I could probably get Stajan to wave HIS NTC"
"Bwaahaahaa…now who’s pranking who?"
"How bout we try for a D then Jay?"
"Ok" (sound of kleenex box being opened)
"JBo?"
"NTC"
"Giordano?"
"NMC..then NTC"
"Sarich?"
"FULL NMC"
"Ok Jay…lets make this easier then…Babchuk?"
"NTC"……(sound of bullets being loaded into revolver)
"Well Jay I don’t know what to say man. About the only other guy we’d be interested in is Kipper"
*moment of silence*
BANG!!

haha, Sutter left a pretty good mess. Signed too many half rate players for too much money, then let them add no movement clauses. Fortunately a bunch of them are going to be UFA and RFA at the end of the season, so the Flames can decide not to sign a bunch of them again, but that won't get us anything in return.

Flames Salary chart. http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=9

Blake Geoffrion will become the fourth-generation player of the family to wear a Habs uniform tonight.

Pretty cool...

For the second time in two nights, Luke Schenn completely loses control of the puck in his own zone and gives the other team a free goal. I want to make a compilation of all these defensive screw ups and send them to Brian Burke but the video would probably be 20 minutes long.

To think that people were offering first round picks for this guy (who gets paid more than Lupul) and Burke turned them down is mind-blowing. I can't believe how blind Burke is once he's set his mind on keeping a player.

They should be used to that by now. lol it's been what, 7 years out of the playoffs now? (assuming the current downward trajectory continues).

We're going to have to get used to it here from the look of things, though there is still a chance the Flames can make the playoffs, but I'm not holding my breath.

The current Leafs roster is NOTHING like the team 7 years ago (a veteran squad more akin to the Flames). Why do you bring up trivial past bullshit? Who cares?

The fact is the offence is excellent and is being held back by a non existant D and goaltending. I said I was tank nation at the beginning of the year and I havent changed my mind.

The Wings of 1991 aren't the same team as the current squad, but making the playoffs every season since then is still an impressive streak, no?
