I hope they start ripping up that street soon.

Man, these demolition companies should really recruit us. I get the sense that a lot of us would gladly demolish this stuff for free out of a pure love of transformation and development.

They could probably even get some revenue - people would pay to swing a sledge hammer and break stuff. Or better yet, drive a bulldozer. They have a place near Las Vegas that let's grown men play with construction equipment like that, I hear.

Towers has an update on the ERS addition at 200 East 18th Street:

https://austin.towers.net/mixed-use-...nt-system-site

I really like the existing brutalist structure and am happy to see that they're keeping it and developing the low-rise portion of the lot into a modern glassy building.

Thanks Max (James)!

That restaurant site on the northeast corner would be packed for UT football and basketball game days. Something to compete/compliment Scholtz's beer garden.

That'll probably end up being a high rise then. The existing building next to it is 95 feet tall, and this one looks to be a good 20 to 25 feet taller.

The North Austin Campus construction website is doing a good job in providing updates.

Update on Capitol Complex excavation:

Package #1, the preliminary excavation of the two office buildings and Congress Avenue, has had some delays due to rain, but is generally on schedule for completion. Current excavation is on the 1801 Congress building site, which should be completed by next May. Excavation on 1601 Congress begins next February and be completed by August.

Fencing goes up on Congress Avenue permanently between the Capitol and Martin Luther King Boulevard on Dec. 1. No one will be able to cross Congress on 16th, 17th or 18th streets until the Texas Mall is completed in May of 2022.

The 6 story building on the right looks like its leaning, or is it just my crappy monitor?

I see it too but it's simply a photo optical illusion.
