There is a lot of antiquated zoning in that area. Austin has difficulty planning for its growth.

now that Codenext is dead, the ANC has to take responsibility for the mess Austin's in. It is one thing to say no to just about everything, but it is not okay to never offer alternatives.

I expect my toddler to sit around and say "no" to everything....not my civic leaders. The council gives too much control to these people.

Someone with more time than myself should put together a chart of all the "doors" that would have been built were it not for the NC's fighting all new housing. I believe something like that, if it were widely distributed on social media, could have an effect. I bet the actual number of units that were NEVER built is staggering.

We've seen the Moxy Hotel elevations already. But the start date is "Winter 2018". I think "Winter 2019" would be more correct.

Remind us more about Hilltop. Great place for more housing and nice to see them build around the gem in the center.

I think West Campus has more tower cranes right now than downtown proper.

East Central has more cranes than Downtown currently however we will see more cranes fill the skyline pretty soon.

Talked to a freshman at UT today who's researching housing in Austin and she shared that she's on a two year wait list for a place in West Campus. Feels like demand will stay strong for a bit but we've got to nix this antiquated parking regulations. Why would Austin demand parking for people who don't want cars

Honestly, I'm surprised that more condos aren't built in WC instead of apartments. To my knowledge, there are only 2 or 3 recent (i.e. within the past 10 years) condo buildings that have been built around there. Strange to see that the demand hasn't been there for something that's roughly the quality as, say, the 360 condos downtown for our wealthier students.

Passed by yesterday and the small strip center behind Freedmen's has vanished.
