Department of National Defence studying "Vancouver camouflage"

I'm guessing, somehow, the study will come back differently than dressing up as Starbucks or something with Japanese writing?

Hmm, what else could they camouflage as? Green glass?

No, it will be a pixellated uniform pattern, much like the Temperate Woodland uniform (what is worn domestically), Arid Region uniform (what is worn in Afghanistan), and Arctic Winter uniform (not yet issued).

Examples of the TW and AR uniforms:

I got the image off of the Military Police Virtual Museum, but the original image is by DND.

I would venture to guess that, based on what colours you often find in urban areas, that the uniform would consist of two shades of gray, one shade of green, and one shade of brown. But that is complete conjecture. The USMC experimented with their own urban design, which was a blanket of gray with intermittent coyote-brown and black on the surface.

Keep in mind this isn't Olympic-specific or related. The program to develop the camouflage pattens (known as the clothe-the-soldier program) has been around since the early 1990s. In case anyone was wondering.
