I wonder how the eastern-facing units in that tower will be sold, considering that they'll probably have pretty phenomenal views that will almost certainly be almost completely obstructed once the other two towers go up.

Sounds like members of the city had to deal with the same trite nonsense we had to! Glad they see the benefits. And nice to see an endorsement by the Friends of the Chicago River who see the value of what this development will bring to the river's edge.

The Plan Commission, Zoning Committee and City Council approval are mere formalities in Chicago where opponents are not given an opportunity to cross examine the findings made by DHED or the statements made by the developer or to present their own evidence.

Does anyone really believe that this project won't receive the green light? Jobs, Jobs and more jobs will "TRUMP" anything the FOWP can bring to the table. Period!

Actually, the fight has not begun because the developer and City have been busy patting themselves on the back and have not allowed opposition to cross examine positions or to present a case. It's typical City of Chicago behavior. The hearings at the Plan Commission, Zoning Committee and City Council feature unlimited time for the development team and DHED to present their position .............. and then the vote occurs.

No time to argue back and forth with you guys, though. Cruised around Cape Horn this morning. Better things to do with my time.

They won't be sold, it's a rental tower. Anybody that dislikes the view changes can leave.

I'm more interested in the south-facing units, which have a guaranteed view down the South Branch corridor. The staggering of the west face means that all west-facing units are also south-facing.

^ I do really love the Shard. His buildings are very tactile and delicate compared to the flat shrink wrapped glass buildings or clunky precast beasts that define recent decades of Chicago architecture.
