The publication-that-shall-not-be-named is reporting that Rocky Mountain Chocolate is moving from HSC to fill half the former HMV space on SGR. It's awesome to FINALLY see something go in there!

With Freak Lunchbox working on swapping their store 2 doors down on Barrington St. into the building that used to have the Tall Ships 2000 mural on it- they commissioned a rather prolific abstract & street artist, Jason Botkin, to repaint the side of their building and it was revealed earlier today! Absolutely stunning work and a massive improvement over that stale, old, poorly proportioned painting of a couple tallships and the Purdy's Wharf towers..

According to Retail Insider, DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) will be opening in Halifax next Spring on Chain Lake Drive. The store they opened in Moncton in the Mapleton Centre has been quite popular, so I imagine the Halifax location will be the same.

DSW stores are typically in the 20-25,000 sq ft range.

I was thinking about it the other day, with the HSC reno, Apple being in there and other high end retailers now what the chances are that Tesla would open up a shop in the Mall. Quebec City has one, I'd like to think we would be one of the next markets.

There have been charging stations quietly installed at some gas stations and most new civic buildings - not sure if they are compatible with Tesla (my understanding is that different makes require different types of charging stations?) but the infrastructure is appearing, making it more and more likely.

I have passed at Least one Tesla locally, and pretty sure it had local plates

Hard to day if they would setup shop as, until Porsche setup shop, we were pretty behind the the rest of Canada on the higher end dealers

We have a porche dealer on Kempt Rd, next to Jaguar, Volvo & Land Rover.
A Lotus dealer would be nice though...

I was in Helsinki this summer and the taxi from the airport was a Tesla. Those pure electric drives have some serious torque. I was pretty impressed by the acceleration!

Must be expensive to ride a in a taxi there if they can afford to use Teslas. Either that or they are heavily subsidized by the govt.

Definite yes to the first (everything is pretty expensive there). Might be subsidized, but to be honest I would be somewhat surprised by that because I would think that the vast majority of the subsidy goes to their mass transport system, which is actually pretty good (heavy rail commuter trains coming in to a central station that feeds into a network of light rail and buses). Surprisingly good system for a city of that size, and especially considering the geographic/geological constraints that the city. Not as good a system as say Stockholm, but pretty darned good considering the population size.
