I think I'll avoid the first fireworks display within the square though.

(Alternate version, larger size)

Fireworks going off between massive walls of glass, with the crowd directly below.

No doubt someone at ISIS is firing off a memo: "Learn, guys..."

Do they set off fireworks directly over the crowd? Or in a confined space between two glass towers? You honestly think they'll be doing it at TNS like in the publicity photos? "R u kidding me?"

Even with the displays at The Forks limited to smaller fireworks, they cordon of an area MUCH larger than tiny True North Square. Displays with larger fireworks are fired off from south of Assiniboine, with an even larger area off limits.

I don't know that there's any real danger anyway. I mean, here in China people set off fireworks from their apartments. I'm not saying that that's a good idea but nobody underneath has been set on fire that I'm aware of.

Interesting they're using circular columns for the residential podium but used square for the office building.

Are these from the website? Havent seen them before.

Some kind of low rise, curved building on the Carlton Inn site.

Edit: Oh I see they're from Architecture 49. I guess these are more from the original renderings?

For context, the residential tower will be roughly the same height as One Evergreen Place (the current diagram drawing shows it as being a bit taller). The office building will be about the same height as Holiday Tower South.

So not exactly skyline-redefining, but it will beef it up a bit, and add quite a bit of density to that one block.

Still no word of any kind on the Sutton Place part of the project?

I was under the impression that true north has washed their hands of the hotel component and have left that to the northland properties to do. I could be wrong of course. Wasn't part of the deal on 221 carlton to build a hotel?

I am no construction expert, so correct me if I'm wrong (and I really hope that I am), but it looks like they are building right up to the road on Graham. Does that mean they are getting rid of the sidewalk on the south side of Graham between Carlton & Hargrave? Surely this wouldn't be allowed, right? Someone please tell me it's just temporary site offices or something.

^ I cannot imagine that the City would ever allow TNS to take out the sidewalk on Graham.

That long black strip on Graham is on top of a long construction trailer. That construction trailer is located on the sidewalk. Everything will be back to normal sidewalk wise once done....except there will be a 25 storey tower right against the sidewalk.

So one building will be approximately the height of the Radisson tower, the other will be the heigh of approximately the residential fort garry towers

Like esquire mentioned not skyline defining, but certainly welcome, important from the perspective of what they are replacing, and will enhance that area a lot

Bit of a view from the west. Giving myself bonus points for the third tower crane in frame. One of these days I'll bring my good camera to work to get a better shot.
