Tricar possibly building a tower on a vacant parcel at North Centre road and Richmond St. They recently purchased a property there.
Source of the purchase is from London business magazine

Unknown buyer purchased 4 buildings as a package at Piccadilly and Richmond. Usually a package like that is for something substantial.
Source of the purchase is from London business magazine

Just a rumor of Barneys/Ceeps having a development on that property.
Source from the rumor is from a few different random people. I would classify this as a rumor and not creditable.

Hotel is completely demolished now. Just the mess left. I heard back in the spring The Keg was moving here, around the time the hotel dropped the Super 8 name to some generic "London Hotel and Suites" or something like that.

Vacant space tax rebate appears to be on way out. A fair compromise to eliminate it over two years?

Happy to hear that went through, a pretty significant 2 million dollar cost for absolutely no return. This in theory will push some of the smaller guys trying to hold onto vacant property just for the sake of having it away.

Another banal building that looks exactly like the ones in Milton, Barrie, Kitchener...

The banal fugliness of cookie-cutter big box barf (including restaurants) knows no bounds. At least the former downtown london keg was in a nice building (former train station). Now it is just in a Mall.

star wars, of course

2 things I have notice recently.

Construction trailer moved on site to where Old Oaks 3rd tower near Southdale and Colonel Talbot is going. I thought this was in the OMB maybe its not anymore.

Farhi emptied out a whole 2 story building and gutted everything inside at the NE corner of York and Talbot. Maybe he will demolish it for more parking? maybe a big project on the way for once? Maybe someone here knows more.

So is that entire sire vacant now then? I drove by on the weekend but was to busy showing my brother what the "Harmony house" turned into to notice.

That lot would be prime for a new tower

Yes it has slowly been emptied over the last 6 months? The tattoo place moved out a few weeks ago which was the last store inside. Last week there was a dumpster in front so that area could be gutted like the rest of the building.

That entire site, from Pomeroy over to the plaza now has construction fencing around it.

Hmm, I expected a bigger building on that site, considering the 2 towers across the road are 15 or 16 floors.

Is there a thread for the new YMCA they're building on Southdale? Drove by it the other day and was pretty surprised by the process.

Going to be something when it's done. Arena, community centre, library, Y, pool. City recently started a similar project (sans Arena) at East Lions Park.

Good article on the status of downtown developments and the impact of the removal of the development rebate program.

Especially like the quote about wannabe developers.

This is a good article about Masonville Mall. Still waiting to see what white oaks mall will do to compete.

I think they already have done what they are going to do. Be a lower end mall. Now that Walmart has "expanded" and become a Supercentre and The Bay is still hanging in, they haven't had the need to do a wholesale change like Masonville did with 2 big empty stores. They are adding a Shoppers apparently and the Sports Chek is expanding with an Atmosphere as well, although losing Guess. The mall looks great after its makeover a couple years ago as well. Will be interesting to see if Bentall Kennedy retains the mall, as they have recently parted with Westmount, and I've been told they are behind PenEquity's new Ikea/Costco development.

white oaks looks a hell of a lot better than it did a few years ago (back when it was permanently stuck in 1982 with that wretched painted metal ceiling). That said, it is decidedly a step or two below Masonville, which has ratcheted up its prestige, starting with the Apple store, and now with the very intense makeover.

I would say that the malls are not really in much competition anymore. If you want the high end fashion, you go to Masonville; if you don't care too much and don't need the extra 30 minute drive, you can be satisfied with White Oaks.

White Oaks does beat Masonville on cellphone bling....there must be 50 places/kiosks selling that garbage at White Oaks.

More land sold by the city. Looks like this is the last piece of land in this park.

Nice to see CANUSA keep growing. I was shocked when I heard they were moving from their former Dorchester building in to the old Keiper, and now to see them expanding big time is great to see for a locally owned company.

I wonder how long before the city looks at expanding this industrial park now that it's sold out. Still lots of land available to the west of this, not sure who owns it. I used to deal with a company over on River Rd at the west leg of Scanlan, Impact Auto Auctions, and they were told 15 years ago they had to leave their site because they were essentially located in the middle of where the Scanlan St extension was going. So they built a new building on Gore, and the extension never happened.
