Don't mind me, just coming out of the shadows to say that the impact of this building on the skyline cannot be overstated.

All of Philadelphia's trophy buildings--i.e., the Liberties, 3 Logan, Mellon--have a taper to them that, taken together, made Philly's skyline uniquely harmonious. There's nothing wrong with Comcast I as a standalone building. But its lack of a tapered top makes it a black sheep among the city's trophies. And given its former status as the city's tallest, its flat top had this subtle muting effect on the soaring feel of the others. No longer were your eyes drawn to the tip tops of the buildings.

Aside from direct North/South views (damn, this baby has girth), CTC really restores that soaring, tapered quality that makes Philly's skyline so great. I was driving back into the city from work the other night (yes--I drive to the burbs for work, I don't want to hear it), and that lantern poking out above everything else was just amazing.

Really curious to see how the spine looks at night. I have a feeling it will be absolutely great. Now if we could only brighten the lights on the Liberties...

Saw the tower today under overcast skies. The tower blended into the sky and made it look like the dark gray cooling tower was the top of the building. Not bitching. Just an observation.

I did not get a chance to take a pic today, but the glass on the outside lantern blade is climbing fast, appears to be at least 30 floors up now.

The building looks great. My only complaint is how Comcast 1 and 2 don't really compliment each other. they are both pretty bulky. Making a huge bulky wall from the north. I hope the 3rd tower tries to tie the whole campus together somehow. thats what makes the Brandywine campus so good.
