A 125-foot-long, former Coast Guard cutter, dubbed the SSS Morris, docked Monday afternoon at its new home just south of the Highway 50 bridge.
"It's a great excitement. Probably one of the nicest-looking boats that's been up here for permanent berthing in quite a while," said John Turner of West Sacramento.
The SSS Morris was recently taken over by the West Sacramento chapter of the Sea Scouts, a branch of the Boy Scouts of America.
The scouts and their leaders spent three days navigating the ship from its old port in Napa.
According to the Sea Scouts' website, the SSS Morris was built in 1927 and originally served to intercept alcohol traffickers during Prohibition.
Since 1971, it has been used by Sea Scouts for maritime training for young adults 13 to 20 years old.
