Yeah now it's growing on me, I'm sure t will still be presentable. Anyways on other topics, will the window panes change around the mechanical floors, they look taller

They might appear darker as a representation of the mechanical floors, but they are in no way taller. The mechanical floors are. One mechanical floor is equivalent to two office floors.

Wow, we're at 57 signatures already?! A couple of hours ago, we were at 24!! Keep it up guys, we'll get 100 in no time! The petition link has been posted recently, but if you want it again, here it is:http://www.change.org/petitions/save-our-spire Pardon my monotonous consistency, i just wanted to mainly accommodate all that helped us get so many.

Off topic, but that is not as daring as what this guy did at almost the same height. I really hope someone does something similar on the new One and Two World Trade Center towers.

Wow, 10,000 signatures. Then I guess everyone should send everyone they know the link of the petition site, and get signing. But really was it necessary replacing the spire with an antenna.

That would be a logistically (nearly) impossible challenge. You do realize how far away the new 1 and 2 are going to be from the old 1 and 2.

I do, but there are tightrope acts that stretch way farther than the distance between them, and their heights are still pretty close. It could be a inclined walk.

If that many planes flew that close to the Hudson a 1776 foot structure wouldn't be allowed either, what difference does that make?

Just wondering if someone knows what the vertical grooves are near the top of 1WTC are? They seem to be between about the 92-99 floors.. I was just wondering if they were design features, or if they simply denote the mechanical floors providing some kind of ventilation?

Signed, thanks for the link. There should also be some political awareness about the situation. It would be great to have the Mayor, Borough President and City Council speaking out about the situation. State Assembly speak Sheldon Silver would be another good person to petition, it is in his district.

Well it's "official" One World Trade won't top out in April, what a surprise.

From:
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/03/...date/#comments

One World Trade Center To Miss Top Off Date

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Though the weather was unseasonably warm this January it was also unusually windy. Because of that, the Port Authority had to halt the erection of steel on One World Trade Center for a considerable number of days for safety reasons.

It’s now clear that they won’t make their original April target date to top off the iron work.

But Port Authority executive director Patrick Foye said Thursday that “significant progress is being made. I spoke to the team today. We expect this spring, especially with the unseasonably warm weather, to be a very active time and we think there will be a topping off. I’m not gonna give you a date.”

The steel is now at the 93rd floor and will top out at 104. The building will be completed in late 2013 or early 2014 and will be 1,776-feet-tall. That will make it the tallest building in the country.

^ Probably late May early June, as I predicted, some 50 pages ago.

I suspected the same thing. Those two months of no progress ruined it but the Tower will top out soon so whether it tops out now or later makes no difference.
