New Steel Arrives at 3 World Trade Center

By Silverstein Properties
March 18, 2015

Quote:
Hundreds of steel beams and columns weighing over 15 tons each were delivered to 3 World Trade Center this week.

Fabricated in Columbia, South Carolina, each beam was hoisted over 125 feet in the air to the 8th floor of the building.

Although the tower’s concrete core has risen to the 14th floor, this is the first time steel and concrete are going up at the same time.

The steel will frame out floors for the building’s anchor tenant GroupM, the world’s leading media investment management group, which signed a 20-year lease for over half a million square feet at the base of the tower.

The steel will top out on the 80th floor in December 2016 and 3 World Trade Center will open in 2018.

This is the first I've seen of the terrace at 3 WTC

This building is peak New York. It really does suggest purely business-like qualities. Like a navy suit, white shirt and black lace-up shoes.

Is there any way to get a floor count going as we had with 432 park?

If it helps, the sole erect beam depicted in the photograph that Hudson11 just posted reaches the roof of the podium. Once those final two trading floors are up, we can just focus on the tower portion, which is up to which floor now?

Wow, they're really picking up the pace now. Finally with Spring on its way, this tower will start shooting upwards. Now, I was wondering, why are they just focusing on building the west side floors and not surrounding the entire core? I would have figured they would want the opposite side built up more so than the other so that they could raise the elevator by Church St.

Kewl diagram. I really like the design of this building, even with the loss of the large diagonal elements. Thanks RobEss.

^^^ Judging from that photo I'm guessing the steel height is now at the 9th floor. Time to update that construction diagram.
