Thunder Roads 2011: Many, many cities

2011 saw me on the move again. Lacking the time or will to make threads for all the cities I photo'ed this year, I'm just going to dump the highlights into this one thread. I had the pleasure of driving between Chicago and New Jersey three times. There is a lot to see between those two points.

I guess this is sort of a "best-of" for 2011. It's mostly new stuff after the first few.

January

Elgin, Illinois

Racine, Wisconsin

Chicago, Illinois

February

Blizzaster 2011

West Palm Beach, Florida

April

Hammond, Indiana

Whiting, Indiana

May

Wilmington, Delaware

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Camden, New Jersey

Monmouth Battlefield, New Jersey

Atlantic City, New Jersey

Newark Int'l Airport

Rogers Park - Chicago, Illinois

June

Elkhart, Indiana

Lagrange, Indiana

Cleveland, Ohio

Youngstown, Ohio

Cambria County, Pennsylvania

Johnstown, Pennsylvania

July

Manasquan River - Monmouth County, New Jersey

Asbury Park, New Jersey

August

Allentown, Pennsylvania

Pottsville, Pennsylvania

Warren, Ohio

Trumbull County Courthouse, Ohio

Akron, Ohio

Ashland County, Ohio

Findlay, Ohio

Defiance, Ohio

Fort Wayne, Indiana

[A quick, photo-less farewell to Chicago, a truly great city]

Indianapolis, Indiana

Springfield, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio

Marietta, Ohio

Fairmont, West Virginia

Uniontown, Pennsylvania

Garrett County, Maryland

Cumberland, Maryland

Hagerstown, Maryland

York, Pennsylvania

Susquehanna River, Pennsylvania

Columbia, Pennsylvania

My new home: Jersey City, New Jersey

Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey

September

Hoboken, New Jersey

Brooklyn, New York

Jersey City

New York, New York

Hoboken, New Jersey

October

New York, NY

New York, NY

Hoboken, New Jersey

Jersey City, New Jersey (I wake up to this every morning )

Jersey City

NY

November

Newark, New Jersey

New York, New York

...and so it goes and goes

I'll miss your industrial strength Chicago threads.

Beautiful, some sweet shots of the East...

There is a lot of classic American urbanism in this thread. I love all of it but especially the Terminal Tower in Cleveland.

You were in Delaware and didn't let me know? I could've shown you around.

You last picture from Jersey City in August (before the Point Pleasant picture) was taken literally in front of my friends' house. Theirs is the tan one on the left that is cut off.

Loved every photo. Classic examples of classic American urbanism. I can't get enough of those forlorn small Appalachian cities.

Not sure why, but the Beach Boy's song "Get Around" kept playing in my head.

I'm lovin' this thread. Sorry to say I don't remember the Columbia, PA tour (quite a surprising little city),

Now that you're on the East Coast, I'm expecting some Upstate NY tours.

Thanks for all the great pics/tours you've shared with us Tt.

Nice collection! The skyline of Jersey City was also visible from our hotel near Meatpacking district, Manhattan during my visit in August.
