If this rationale is okay, then look for Regina to get a children's hospital too.
I agree totally! The logic of some people will never cease to amaze me.

Isn't this how toddlers in kindergarten rationalize things? "You can't have it unless I get one too!"

Well, no, this is not toddlers fighting over toys. It is about priorities. A stadium in the city of Regina is not high on the Province's list of priorities.

I'm on the fence about the stadium - I'm more interested in the other aspects.

That being said, have to consider there is some interest from the province considering they were the ones trumpeting a new stadium in the first place.

Building up the inner city is a solid proposal. Hitching the stadium to it is a tough sell though. I am certain the Province is interested in funneling some dollars to Regina. But I do not think the stadium is what they have in mind.

If that's the case, then why did they kick start the idea of a new stadium? In 2008 the City wanted to renovate Mosaic - the Province essentially said no. Following that the Province led the charge on a new stadium, including the feasibility study at a price of $1M. When the Feds so no dice, they passed the file onto the City.

Like I said, if there's a new stadium - cool, I'm sure I'll check it out. So I don't want to come across as throwing my support behind this no matter what. That being said, the Province initiated all this, the same government is in power.....hard to see them not being a major player in financing the stadium.

Sure.

As CCF just said, the provincial government were the ones originally interested in financing a new stadium in Regina. For you to say it's not a priority for the province makes no sense because the government has shown repeated interest in a new stadium for the past 5 years. You are simply showing personal bias towards the project.
Having said that, the head of the Canadian Council on Public-Private Partnerships believes the answer for financing lies in a P3 partnership.

Perhaps the City of Regina has been given the runaround by the Province? Requesting $200 million for an open air stadium is either amazingly brilliant or incredibly stupid.

The ball is in the Province's court now.

Well I don't really follow.....nor can I comment as I have no further insight than what has been mentioned in the news.

That being said, guess time will tell.

Personal bias -- so what? Set that aside for a brief moment. I am not the one who needs to be convinced. The Province is jerking the City's chain. That is how I see it.

Which brings us back to my original statement, that a stadium is not high on your list of priorities. Simple. If you have evidence the Province is jerking Regina around then produce it.

I as well.

All we can do is watch from the sidelines.
