Actually I was thinking of their Centretown project. Lisgar? Soho Italia is still a much better location but the same basic market so I would tend to agree with the original point.

Wonder what's next for Little Italy

SOHO Champagne 2?
SOHO Italia?
Claridge Icon?
Nuovo?

Does anyone have updated sales figures and such for the above 4 projects? I'm guessing that would be one of the best indicators of the next project to break ground.

SOHO Italia is indeed on hold. The advertising on the new hoarding is pushing SOHO Champagne sky collection, which is just a couple of blocks west. It makes sense to get those remaining units sold.

As for Soho Champagne being on the wrong side of the tracks, as Preston Street becomes more vibrant in the future, for those people who like it a bit more quiet, Soho Champagne could be considered to be on the right side of the tracks.

Did the Soho Italia design go from wavy balconies to a typical Ottawa rectangular tower design? If thats the case, what a shame. Why can't we have some variety in this town?

Well because its a town as you say. Plus the wavy balconies will be across the street.

It cannot be dead if it was never alive.

You didn't hear? They moved it to the University of Ottawa's Lees campus.

Soho Italia resurrected!

It may have died for awhile, but it looks like a resurrection is taking place. The sales centre on Preston is undergoing a major overhaul, complete with lighted signage and a new facade. Looks like the ICON and nearby SOHO Champagne are soon to get new competition. Bring it on.

I wonder when SOHO Champagne Tower 2 will get built...Most of Tower 1 is sold. Nowhere on the website does it even mention the second tower aside from the renderings. Maybe Italia will launch first?

I recall reading an article in the Ottawa Citizen Homes and condo section earlier this year that they were targeting pre-sales starting in May. Based on your observations it seems they might be true to their word. I work in the area and have been too occupied checking out the Icon excavation to notice any activity at the Preston sales centre.

I really doubt they'll go ahead at 30 stories. They'll probably file for increased height 'again' based on what the neighbours got. A lot has changed since this thing was proposed.

Yeah, I don't see why they can't get the 35 floors they originally asked for back in 2011, before the battle of the tallest started.

Very nice building... but I also counted around 45 stories. The # of floors in a design like this is crutial in order to have enough height to have the wavy flow from top to bottom. If Soho italia would go ahead at 30 or less floors, it might look too short to actually play up the interesting wavy design... but that's just my opinion.

Looks like Soho Italia will be fully launched soon. Based on the render on their website, it appears to still be 30 floors (http://www.sohoitalia.com/).

It could be a rather handsome building with high quality glazing. It's lost the spectacle of being a particularly tall building in this city, but the design is clean and crisp.
