That last picture is tempting me to consider moving there in the near future.

Through the freeway. The Cosmopolitan (under construction in the foreground) will soon be obscuring our view completely however.

Can I have the one that comes with a brunette and a redhead instead of the one that comes with a kid and a dog? Oh, that's just the lobby. Seriously though, I assume that's a heater/AC unit near the ceiling? Wow is that an ugly way to accomplish that, not to mention less effective in winter since heat rises. Ah well... can't win 'em all.

I love how we have buildings like this one and Park Avenue West that are filling in gaps in the skyline.

Thanks for the pictures - they are great for those of us who don't live in the city and get downtown only occasionally.

No problem, I wish I could take more though, since I am out and about for work all the time. I'm usually just too busy to stop...

I need to make a round through the pearl district soon!

Portland design firm will deck out massive new Lloyd District complex
Mar 25, 2015, 10:38am PDT

Staff Reporter- Portland Business Journal

A Portland interior design firm will next lend its eye for design to the Lloyd District's newest apartment towers.

American Assets Trust Inc., which has left its mark around the region in an array of upscale projects, has hired local firm Vida Design to create the interiors for the three new buildings at the Hassalo on Eighth development

The effort is one of Portland’s largest residential projects. Vida will design and oversee installation of the interior common area spaces for all three buildings, including the model units.

Vida Design is a Portland-based firm that provides full project delivery and management services for interior design and furniture procurement services for multi- and single-family residential projects, as well as commercial and hospitality projects.

It has decked out such metro region projects as the Ladd Tower, Cyan/PDX, Terrene at the Grove and Palladia.

“We chose Vida for their talented design aesthetic and their feel for the Portland residential market,” said Stephanie Shaffer, senior residential asset manager for American Assets Trust, in a statement. “They understand the inspiration behind GBD Architects’ design of the project and Wieden+Kennedy’s branding work for the development and individual buildings.”

Leasing at Hassalo on Eighth begins next month and the first tenants in the development will move in during the summer. The project’s grand opening is planned for September 2015.

These are from this evening. It's really nice seeing the finishing touches get added to this project.

Yeah with over 600 units, I would imagine there would be at least a thousand more people regularly walking around in that area.

Portland needs so much more like this. We need the housing and the density. Imagine a city that protects the hinterlands by being dense in areas from 6-30 stories. It seems like Portland can then come alive to allow even more rapid transit over a larger grid due to demand.

This project is looking so amazing. With this four block development, and the next four block development, the Lloyd District will have a completely different feel at street level by the time Phase 3 starts.

Yeah, it's really evident already what an improvement it will be. The simple act of creating a solid street wall has totally transformed the area.

I really hope they get some good retail tenants. Just having a decent coffeehouse or bar would go so far to bringing life to the area. With the large number of people who already work in the area and a 1,000+ new residents by the end of the year I have to assume there's the demand for it.
