I agree there is a lot that can be done with the riverfront. As it stands there is the park, some vacant lots to the south, Isle of Capri Casino and the interstate to the east, and the trail to the River Market to the south and west. The park doesn't do too well even though it looks pretty nice, because it is surrounded by nothing.
Luckilly, there is a new plan for developing the vacant lots on the riverfront. I think it has the most promise out of all the plans put forth so far. Here is a link to the artice :

Basically the plan is to actually split up the parcels and develop them individually. This should hopefully give the area a more natural feel, instead of having one large development like originally planned. Large super projects never look as good as a mix of small projects. Plus it should be easier to get off the ground.
