Candace Carlisle
October 27, 2016

Quote:
The 216-acre business park, called Frisco Park 25, at the northwest corner of Preston Road and Rockhill Parkway (less than a half-mile away from the Dallas North Tollway) is zoned for industrial and office real estate.

At build out, Frisco EDC expects to have 2.2 million square feet of real estate valued at more than $300 million. Gandy said the economic development agency plans to sell portions of the park off to companies wanting to purchase and own their own real estate.

"This allows us to better control the design and development happening in the park," he added.

Plans for the park will include a greenbelt and a detention pond. The park will be marketed to corporate and regional headquarters, among other manufacturing, distribution and showroom operations.

Construction on the roads and utilities into the project are expected to start soon, with the initial phase of buildings getting underway in 2018.

Carrollton transit-oriented development will include downtown apartments

Quote:
Stoneleigh Cos. — which is building one of Uptown Dallas' new apartment towers — and Realty Capital will develop the four-story, 234-unit Switchyard apartment community on Broadway Street at College Avenue, just east of Interstate 35E.

The planned rental project is across the street from the downtown Carrollton DART commuter rail station. And the site is at the crossroads with the planned Cotton Belt passenger rail line, which will run to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

"We're looking to break ground in February," Stoneleigh CEO Rick Cavenaugh said.

He said construction of the two buildings should take 16 to 18 months. Carrollton's planning and zoning commission recently approved the development.

Developer Bill Cawley unveils new $30M office building in Allen's Watters Creek

Quote:
The three-story, 100,000-square-foot office building could sit on 7.68 acres of land in between Bethany and Legacy drives at Watters Creek along North Central Expressway.
Quote:
And Cawley says he expects the proposed office building to do well in the market.

"There's another new building going up by the proposed convention center and everybody is excited about it," Cawley told me. "We want to give them another option."

The Watters Creek location is key because it brings office tenants closer to restaurants and apartments, he said. Ultimately, he said, the two buildings will do well.

McKinney ISD's $69.9 million high school stadium: nation's most expensive?

Quote:
At $62.8 million, McKinney ISD's new high school stadium was already considered among the most expensive in the country.

Now, it might be No. 1 after school board trustees learned last week that higher building costs have pushed the price tag to $69.9 million — $7.1 million more than what voters approved in May.

The new price of the 12,000-seat stadium, which includes an attached events center, shocked some trustees.
Quote:
Construction on McKinney's stadium is anticipated to begin in September and be completed by fall 2017.

If work is finished by then, games will be played there that season. McKinney school officials decided not to scale back or postpone the project.

Pretty soon high school stadiums will be nicer than some professional stadiums. They're already surpassing a lot of college stadiums. As a Texas guy who loves football, I'm saying this is pretty cool. However, if I were paying taxes in that district, I would probably have an issue with it and question whether or not it's a good use of dollars...
