I would not go that far Robby, 80 years later I would still take the Chrysler Building over this. True it will be iconic for London, as it is one of their first skyscraper projects worth noting, but...not in the same league.

The words London and skyscraper still sound funny in the same sentence.

yeah, in london they use to build the cores like that, i remember back in 2002, i was living there, and in the city, they were building some buildings with this technique, very high cores, i remember seeing a couple of cores, i didn't know what where those for in that time, coming out of the canary wharf tube station, they were cores like 10 or 11 floors high and i was, wtf are those things like chimneys for??
some years later then realized.

^ The Barclays Bank tower in Canary Wharf was like that. They nearly topped out the two cores - something like 30 stories - before starting on the main structural steel.

Wow, that glass is exceptionally transparent. This ought to be a very dynamic building once occupied.

Alot of people are going to see that building during the 2012 olympics and think what is that beautiful building, and from then on out it will be a major London Icon.

I have to agree with this statement. Having never lived through the construction of a TRUE icon (at least not that I can think of off the top of my head at 2:30AM), I have to imagine that this is what it is like. Skyscraper geeks like us are going OFF about it, but the general population probably barely notices it even exists. But that will all change once it dominates the London skyline!

If that core get's any higher on its own, they may have to call it the Shaft.
