Crane Height

Interesting the 3 levels the cranes are at to coincide with the building they will be working. From 9 floors down.

Thanks for the photos guys and taking the time to post them. This huge project is so intricate and detailed that sometimes the current photos look similar to photos you all took a month ago but we are all looking forward to the finished building and then we have the new HQ to look forward to! JUMP is most definitely going to be one of the most unique buildings in the Mountain West.

Silly construction question for those of you that know...Why is it that these sites always seem incapable of actually finishing brick work etc. on a wall. It always seems like they get them to "almost done" and leave it for months. Not just on this building.

That's a good question! Maybe it's due to them using up the supplies that they already have delivered on the site, and they're waiting on the rest of the ordered materials to be manufactured and delivered? GTSboise has worked on JUMP, maybe he could give us an idea of what going on with stuff like that?

I was thinking about JUMP and the design of it the other day. I wonder if they knew/were intending to build the Simplot HQ on the same lot from the get go? Just seems silly to me that they built these studios (or whatever they call them) with big glass walls, facing a downtown skyline and moutains, only to be eventually blocked in by a building.

I spent a couple weeks in Boise this summer and enjoyed it a great deal. I love the plethora of beautifully-maintained forested old neighborhoods surrounding the urban core, and the many small districts and corners where small businesses and neighborhood activities appeared to be thriving. But I found the downtown to be a bit... tame? provincial? too clean? boring?

But when I first laid eyes on this JUMP complex I was blown away. It's extremely bold, interesting, and playful. It doesn't look like something that would be built in Idaho, but would be more like a project you'd see in Los Angeles or Melbourne. I felt envious! Austin (my current home) has no comparable structures and none in the works.

I think you're very fortunate to have a project like this essentially gifted to Boise by deep pockets. I do wonder about the cohesiveness of its vision and utility, whether it will be self-sustaining or will become an albatross to whomever may have to bail it out if its intentions are over-reaching for such a small city.

I have wondered the same thing too and have thought maybe the new headquarters will built enough to the west that the views will not be impeded.

JUMP's Facebook page has some great photos taken from a hot air balloon a few weeks back which offers a perspective to how the new Simplot HQ will fit into the footprint. Hopefully the views are not blocked.

JUMP and Simplot World HQ

Sunday 9-21-2014 progress.
The studios will have some obstructed views, but to the east, south and west for now are open views. Simplot's building at first was in the design(page one), and then was not going to be built but now is, with a total different design. The ends are around 5 floors, and at the corner of 11th and Front will be 9. So looking towards the Grove views of downtown buildings should be open, and a view corridor up 10th.
Work on underground garage is moving along, and work on Simplot HQ is starting to show preliminary work.
