^Yes - this was where the city expanded the most before turning to the suburban style in around 1900
Sadly much of the really old was lost in great fires or wars ( Copenhagen was the first city to be firebombed - thank you very much Britain
) and a lot due to age was also torn down to make room for the "new"..
The good thing about it is that as a result of the early expansion we never got much commie blocks and that sort - the downside is that it has created a huge number of NIMBYs determent to keep the city as old and flat as posible.. and that sadly scares most from trying new designs or vertical projects ( Instead we get the bland well tested rather boring stuff that is okay but nothing special, especially not compred to what is going on other places on the planet.. )
