Not as bad as the second rendering but I still prefer the original.

Swell pics, Dwils. I love the revitalization of the bank towers. FCP looks smashing in its new garb, and the TD grouping will as well when complete.

Changing topics, I'm a little concerned that we haven't had a new proposal of significance in quite some time.

Amazing update, I love looking through all the Toronto development threads. It's incredibly overwhelming. Quick question, are there any plans to do away with this freeway? Sort a Boston Big Dig type of thing?

They were plans for it. One was to build a big bridge for it. They has also been talk about burying it but it would be very costly and Toronto dosen't want to spend that much money. But there is no way they would demolish it. Too much traffic would be added to the other roads to make it a viable option so it looks like we are stuck with that. But if they develop under the Gardiner for public space it could look very nice.

^^

Thanks for the answer. I've never been to Toronto unfortunately, but with all the development going on around it, it seems like there would be a growing public movement to burry it maybe? Or maybe I'm exaggerating it's impact, again I've never been to Toronto, but Boston's Big Dig was done under an active freeway like that one, so I'm sure it's possible. Anyway, sorry for going off topic.

it is possible, but people would much rather spend the $20 billion or so it would cost to bury it on other things. that kind of money could add 60km of new subways to the city, rather than bury 6km of highway, that adds no new capacity too the overall transportation network.

Burying the Gardiner is very do-able, but there isn't the appetite in Toronto to spend money on infrastructure improvements like this. The culture here is exceedingly frugal, conservative, and bare bones relative to what you're likely used to in New York, Boston, LA, etc. We have a culture where even subways are considered frivolous vanity projects.

It's frustrating, but you learn to accept it.

we've had a few in the 100-150 range but nothing else notable.
Our last major proposal was the 900 foot holts tower

Right. I wonder if this indicates a long-term slowdown or if it's just a cursory blip. We've had these lulls before during this condo boom, and they have always been followed by spasms of proposals.
