A streetcar is a powerful tool to do exactly the things you mention in your last paragraph, which is why Mayor Cabaldon is (and has been) one of the most vocal and prominent advocates for the streetcar line between our two cities. And the current iteration of the plan includes a $35 million contribution from the city of West Sacramento--increased from the earlier iteration, because it includes a new spur that will run along the West Sacramento waterfront to the planned streetcar maintenance and storage facility under the Pioneer Bridge. The city of Sacramento's share of the project amounts to $7 million under the current plan. So, really, West Sacramento is carrying five times as much of the fiscal burden as Sacramento.

To repeat: You can't build a transit-oriented neighborhood without the transit, and that means rail. We have tried doing that before, and the results were Laguna West and North Natomas. If you want that vibrant, urban, walkable West Sacramento waterfront, and a re-energized downtown, connecting places where people live in high density with places they want to go and places on the edge of massive new infill construction, a streetcar is a great mechanism to do all of those things.

Another mid-rise building being proposed near The Bridge District. This time a huge 5 story apartment complex with 256 units.

This will cover the entire block west of Raley's field. The bridge district more and more is becoming an extension of downtown Sacramento.

The Bridge District reminds me of a "satellite City", an urban planning concept very common in Asia's large cities(Jakarta, Manila, Taipeh). If they can only revive and start construction of the 14 story Riverfront hotel/conference center and the 27 story Fulcrum riverfront highrise plus the all other mid-rise proposals, then the transformation will be completed.

Not sure if this would be over 150' otherwise would be a decent midrise

You guys probably already saw this but West Sac reached a deal with Shell to move the large oil tanks from the riverfront just south of Pioneer bridge over to the port. Phasing out over the next few years. That will open up more river front to development, including the planned Broadway bridge.

CalStrs needs to consult with Frost Bank who are building a 23 story office tower in downtown San Antonio (including an adjacent parking garage) for $142 million. How CalStrs can spend $181 million on a 10 story midrise in West Sacramento is simply mind boggling...?

hopefully they demand CalStrs to have a 23 story tower in west sac, since that would be perfect for future expansion of whatever employees. It could be that much if it was in downtown Sac for 10-15 stories? But west sac nah..

Fulcrum's next phase (phase 4) of residential in the bridge district submitted to the city for review. Consists of a 69-unit apartment building, 6 condos, and 11 single family homes. Unlike the last two projects which are closer to Raley Field, these are slated for the lots south of the existing Park Moderns homes (closer to the Pioneer Bridge across from the Barn).
