For many years I have been hearing stories about tulip festivals in Fraser Valley, but somehow I have always missed them until this year. For the next two weeks fields in Abbotsford and Chilliwack will be painted in bright colors.

These photos are from the "original" tulip festival that moved this year from Agassiz to Chilliwack. The flower fields certainly make for a nice drive from the city.

You would think so, but I don't recall the flower fields smelling strongly. Anyways, it's a nice event and it looks like the weather this weekend will make for a nice visit to the festivals if any of you are interested. It's a good way to surprise your better half.

Gold Creek Falls is an easy 1-hour walk in the Golden Ears Park in Maple Ridge.

This time of year the falls are running full.

McMillan Island in Langley has some nice trails for a nice walk in the park.

This small island is connected to Fort Langley in the west via a bridge. On the east side, the Albion Ferry used to connect to Maple Ridge prior to completion of Golden Ears Bridge.

The trail leading to the tip of the island is called Tavistock Point Trail.

So much green everywhere.

Some big new houses across the Bedford Channel.

View downstream Fraser River.

It's an easy, yet nice walk if you happen to be visiting Fort Langley.
