Just a progress report showing the construction area, Memorials, and One WTC base.

I like this one. The sky has a lot of drama. It could be the light wall behind it caused the picture to look darker than the one you posted later.

@brooklynbandit Thanx

@Sight-Seer lighting and photography certainly make a painting look quite different. Unfortunately until I buy a place with lots of Northern light; I am stuck with sub-par lighting options.

I agree however darker seems to pop the buildings and will keep that in mind when doing the sky. Hopefully this week if the temperature here in Dallas dips so I can open the windows open (large oil painted areas put off quite the fumes, and would like to avoid turning mad, at least for now

It might not be clearly evident but I'm quite happy to have making some good progress over the wknd:

Thanx Tower X

Underpainting completely done. Now the hard part of finishing the sky and going over all the buildings.

Couple detailed updates:

One WTC cranes

This image is a little smaller than full scale of this section. I'll probably go back and add a U.S. Flag hanging from underneath one and some highlights to later. I was amazed at how in my pics and almost all the others I saw on the net they were never operating! I could only find one pic of them lifting anything. Obviously they're working as the building keeps rising so...? do they lift most of the materials at night?

Bank of New York building
(left image taken in Oct and painting thus far on the right)

This is one of my favorite aspects of the site. From the Club Quarters patio you could just barely see a large 'Old Glory' hanging in the Bank of NY lobby (101 Barclay St) from in between One and Seven WTC.

Hit a brick wall two weeks ago and FINALLY got my second wind. Detailed four small background areas [Jersey, West St (do locals really call is West St BTW or 9A or...?), West Broadway, and buildings near the Brooklyn Bridge]

The following is a pic of the 'up West Broadway section' to include the Empire State and Chrysler buildings. They weren't actually visible from my viewpoint; but to not utilize a lil artistic liberty and cheat them in would be sacrilege IMO.

Again, pardon the shitty lighting on this one but - it's three o'clock in the morning, or maybe it's four < if you're a CAKE fan you'll understand.

7 World Trade Center finished (minus a couple cranes to finalize in the lower left corner).

It's glass really provides an amazing, slightly distorted, range of cool pastel colors (blue, violet, turquoise, and pink) at sunset. I tried to capture that without going overboard into gaudy; so when it's finally varnished those colors should punch out more.

All buildings finished (save 4 WTC in the lower right ...have to clean up the steel beams and add construction gear below it).

The bathtub and a few cranes (including the mammoth red Manitowoc 18000). This 1:1 scale pic shows the detail of strokes lost in smaller images.
