When looking at a building such as this from afar, it's easy to forget about the amount of work that goes into it. Looking at all of that glass and imagine each piece of it being put in its place one by one... that must be a tedious process. And to see people installing that glass 700 feet up... that must seem very daunting.

If anyone wants to know what this would look like with brighter glass and an additional setback, look at Chicago's Wolf point project

It looks like a really bad copy. It kind of throws out everything that makes the CTC itself.
The CTC has an emphasis on industrialism and industrial design, showing lots of iron and steel supports and diagonal crossbeams lining the east and west facades.
This Chicago project just takes that whole mindset and throws it out the window and clads it entirely in glass.
I don't like it. It doesn't shout anything at you like the CTC does.

The 1901 Arch thread is closed until Comcast announces something ... but the demolition of the Child Advocates building must be happening very soon... this fence surrounding the building (below) appeared either over the weekend or yesterday. Demolition notices for March 2017 were already on the building.

To refresh people's memories...

"In December (2014), Liberty Property Trust acquired 120-22 N. 19th St., a small two-story building occupied by the Support Center for Child Advocates. The site is on the corner of 19th and Cherry streets and the building is 8,700 square feet.

Liberty has also made a move to buy Russell Byers Charter School at 1911-13 Arch St. The building totals 55,000 square feet (still no deal). Other properties it has acquired include: 102-18 N. 19th St.; 100 N. 19th St.; and 1919-23 Arch St.

Commercial real estate sources have said that a third Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) tower is in the works and that bidding on the project is in the initial stages."

One step at a time ...

this is great, for the first time since the web-cam has been focused on the hotel portion you can see glass climbing up the north face of the building, started seeing it a week or so ago:

So when are we thinking all the glass is going to be in place? I'd say probably in July or August.

There are only three more floors that are fireproofed. Until they restart the spray fireproofing the glass will stop there again. This is exhausting with the fits and starts.

Comcast should compensate you for the free advertising! Nice shot!

I wonder if 18th street will reopen before the building- it's been closed for a long time.

If anyone is watching the draft, our skyline is being shown a lot! Ctc looks so impactful! Just knowing millions are seeing the progress make me proud!

Yeah man, the panoramic shot from University City to Center City makes the city look phonomenal. And, props to the backdrop of the Art Museum-very classy look for this major event.

The city, the parkway, and CC look really good on tv for this draft. It looks like this was well planned by placing the draft stage where it is. A nice plug for the city this week!
