We actually were staying btwn Central Park and Times Square, but traveled on a metrocard for a week. So we had meals downtown, uptown, Hell’s Kitchen twice, one good Israeli, one fail Eye-talian. We had a couple of thais, one in Williamsburg; good and cheap, and one near Wall Street; bland and smallish portions. We had a decent meal at a little French BYOW in the Waterfront section of Brooklyn which charged a corkage fee, unknown to us, even though the bottle was a screwtop.
We had an intersting meal at a Cuban-Chinese place near Columbus Circle that was indeed inexpensive huge servings but was rather insipid all told. The only pizza we had wasmnot to die for, but my bad, we chose a chain called Ray’s.
