I was just there last night. Not that I made the trek all the way there just for their sushi, like the guy in the video, but it was a matter of convenience as I was in the area.

I've been there a few times and yes, it's almost always busy with every seat and table taken up. There are often people waiting to get a table, and there are also many people who take out.

And yes, it's pretty good.

Never been there but since we are on the subject of sushi, I really enjoy my fix at Toyama. All you can eat place BUT its actually really good sushi and fresh. The place is always packed and there is always people waiting for a table when I arrive. Really good sashimi.

Another good one is The Eatery on Broadway. That place has some wicked sushi rolls with wacky names. I love the Captain Crunch and Italian Stallion. I love the decor inside too.

I've been meaning to try Toyama, but the thought of all you can eat sushi seems suspicious at best, based on my experiences at Shabusen.

That's not to say I don't enjoy Shabusen. If you don't order all you can eat, they give you completely different and much better quality.

I have brought many of my friends to Toyama and they really enjoyed it. Some have mentioned Shabusen and how its horrible there. My friends keep saying how they love the sashimi at Toyama. Its really fresh. The turn over in that place is ridiculous so the sushi is fairly fresh and really fast!
Their other "Japanese" food is great too.

This got me craving some Spicy Tuna Cones. Damn it!

I thought Matsuzushi had the rep as the best sushi in the area, although it's like a kitchen / store with a few tables.

So, what is the story with Sushi California? It looks pretty typical but I'm guessing it is supposed to taste better than average? The only thing that stood out in that film is that their Ebi Sunomono appears to have more shrimp and cucumber in it than average. I wouldn't make the trek based on that alone...
