Just as an FYI, the lobby is going to be clad in white Carrara Marble, like that shown below (not a sample from the WTC project).

^^^ Up a few....

Kevin, that shot with the Statue of Liberty is just awesome! Almost as if the cranes were purposely imitating Liberty's torch.

Slowly but surely, the centerpiece of lower Manhattan assumes its rightful place...

Those first Dave Hamster photos look like they might have been from the Staten Island ferry. It's a good way to bring folks into the city when you're giving them the tour.
I lived on Governors Island for eight months and still have that view of what I can't call "The T**ns, (because STR would blow a fuse, and even though it seems a little wierd, he puts out world class renders and it's a small price to pay for his beautiful work) carved into my brain. I'm very much looking forward to the new view in a while.

T1WTC v3.5

FYI the fact that the glazing overlaps the steel corners by about 9" is probably one of the big reasons why the edge windows are arranged as they are.

The one picture of the Empire State Building looks like the city is on fire. Is there lots of smoke? Pardon my ignorance.

Old steam heating pipes leaking all over the city. That why you see it coming from the manhole covers etc.

Actually, it's the 72nd floor 880' where all 8 sides are 89 feet wide.

Hi

Hey guys,I'm new around here and just joined this website a few days ago. I see this is a very interesting thread. I was born in New York when the Twin Towers were still there and lived there until the summer of 2001 when I went to Florida to start school. Then 9/11 happened, and I never put that much thought into it until I fully got to know what was there and the people. Glad to see there's making this, and it seems much better from the renderings they did before. This is gonna be good.

Welcome

I think the new WTC is going to be a worthy successor.
