No Canadian teams in the 2nd round, but the Sens make it close with a thriller and the Kings pull off a colossal upset being shut down by the goaltending of Jonathan Quick. The two "weak" division winners both crash and burn, Phoenix will be distracted by relocation talk again and Florida is no match for New Jersey.

Right now I predict Nashville will win the Stanley Cup.

Charming article.

Quote:
Who should Canadians pull for?
QMI Agency hockey writers Bruce Garrioch and Robert Tychkowski make the case for the Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks, respectively

Canucks: watch ’em cause you hate ’em

Robert Tychkowski

I'm not going to pretend I like the Canucks.

Nobody likes the Canucks. Nobody outside the sushi dens and granola taverns of Vancouver, anyway.

They whine. They dive. They turtle. They want referees to fight their battles. They are arrogant, they bite people and their fans set fire to police cars.

And that's why we watch them. Say what you will about the Canucks, they are never boring.

Would you throw up a little in your mouth if you saw Ryan Kesler handing the Stanley Cup to Maxim Lapierre? Of course you would.

But if Ottawa is playing on one channel and the Canucks are on another, who are you watching?

Ottawa? Nobody wants to watch vanilla ice cream melt Ñ you're going to watch the hated Canucks because you know you're going to see something good.

Get a life Edmonton. Your obsession with (and envy of) Vancouver is embarrassing.

How is everyone predicting?

A: (+NYR; -OTT): 13
B: (+BOS; -WSH): 17
C: (+FLA; -NJD): -12
D: (+PIT; -PHI): 5.5
E: (+VAN; -LAK): 5
F: (+STL; -SJS): 17
G: (+PHX; -CHI): -10
H: (+NSH; -DET): 5

The smaller the number, the tighter the series is predicted.

Since everyone is predicting...

Eastern Conference

SERIES 'A' 1 NY RANGERS VS 8 OTTAWA - Rangers in 6
SERIES 'B' 2 BOSTON VS 7 WASHINGTON - Bruins in 6
SERIES 'C' 3 FLORIDA VS 6 NEW JERSEY - Devils in 5
SERIES 'D' 4 PITTSBURGH VS 5 PHILADELPHIA - Penguins in 7

Western Conference

SERIES 'E' 1 VANCOUVER VS 8 LOS ANGELES - Canucks in 4
SERIES 'F' 2 ST. LOUIS VS 7 SAN JOSE - Blues in 6
SERIES 'G' 3 PHOENIX VS 6 CHICAGO - Blackhawks in 6
SERIES 'H' 4 NASHVILLE VS 5 DETROIT - Predators in 7

Still rooting for Boston, but I grabbed LA and the Rangers in my playoff pool. I obviously don't like my chances with LA too much, so I'm really rooting for New York as well. I get my money back if they make it to the Conference finals, where they'll hopefully meet Boston. At that point, its a win-win for me. Either my team goes further or I make more money. Lets see Boston and NY in the Eastern Conference finals!

Vancouver is a nice city, just a shame their hockey team is such a bunch of wankers.

Your envy is unbecoming and won't help your city or hockey team. Some Edmontonians should move forward and focus on something more positive for themselves.

Yes, but you should really be marketing these granola taverns more.

When you win something, you MIGHT have something to brag about... until then, you're not better than Ottawa or Edmonton or Calgary in the last decade.

and I don't recall either of Edmonton, Ottawa, or Calgary going on and on about how we should cheer for them because "they are Canada's team" or what ever constant drivel comes from Canuck fans and their media....

Looking forward to watching the bloodbath tomorrow, I wonder if Crosby will be able to last through the whole series, promises to be violent.

Really hoping the Rangers and Redwings meet in the final, when's the last time Original 6 teams met in the final?
