I quoted the wrong post the first go around.

I cannot wait to see what they have planned. This could redefine Atlanta. My hope is they go big and don't hold back.

Considering gentrification is already a force happening along this corridor, it would be safe to assume you WANT Ryan Gravel's interest in shaping the future of this corridor.

Gravel even stated many times in his book that he wants to find a way to maintain the international vibrancy and affordability that's made this area what it is today. The biggest factor will be finding a way to induce displacement while still making the community better through other improvements/investments that accommodate the projected regional growth.

I neither oppose or support his interests

In either event I doubt his vision to preserve Buford Highway's character will be realized given the poor urban planning of that area. Displacement will indeed be the likely result

I suspect they are looking to acquire the Norfolk Southern old Southern Railway headquarters building as an investment, and probably not as part of their entertainment venue. I think they know that the gultch area is going to skyrocket in value after they formally announce their plans, and they want to own as many adjacent properties as possible.

Agreed, I don't think it can gentrify without displacing a lot of the businesses that are there now. I think a lot of the authentic family-run ones would move farther into the suburbs and be replaced by trendy fusion places. Anyone up for some dim sum tacos?

What's the latest with the Hard Rock hotel? Has it broken ground?

Nice to have Atlanta on so many lists.

I am a little surprised Dallas only showed up once on this entire list. Houston & Austin had a good showing though.

I'm really interested in this project as well. They still have the site fenced off, but nothing has been done for months. I was thinking it might have something to do with the Stadium delays causing them to push back construction, since I dont think there would be anywhere for the hard Rock construction team to park?

Does anyone else know anything?

Definitely!

Just as an aside, I didn't realize Cincinnati had so much going on. Wow!

You can't put much stock in these lists. This is all marketing. There are other list that have totally different rankings with different numbers.

Yeah, the lists are basically worthless. Clickbait designed to show big cities on both good and bad lists of various sorts to generate articles and drive clicks.

I don't think it has anything to do with the stadium. The initial work that was done was only soil remediation despite the "groundbreaking" ceremony. The Land Development permit was only issued just a couple of weeks ago so we will probably see work resume in the coming weeks.

Alright!!! I've been really happy about all the apartments coming to this part of Midtown. Colony Square needs to get underway! This area needs more entertainment options and preferably some sort of grocery.
