Are there plans for the massive derelict lot and the eyesore graffitied structure across the street? Nothing says Silicon Valley innovation to me more than that charming rust belt aesthetic....

Chestnut East of Broad

Does anyone know what kind of developments are happenings on the area of Chestnut near the Hale building? I work nearby and there are definitely renovations occurring in the old "Greenhouse" location, as well as Goldbergs Army Navy. I've also seen some work being done on the Scientology building.

I believe the Greenhouse is to be a restaurant. Pretty sure another Sourias joint (who owns Bru next door). Goldbergs is suppose to another big Wawa. Pretty sure Scientology still owns that building. Hope they do something with it!

Cool, here's an article on the Goldbergs Wawa that I was able to find:

With regards to the PMC building on Chestnut, they have pulled permits and now have fencing up for it but the last time I was in that area I was drunk and forgot to read them.

This proposal is so beyond atrocious. I really hope the city stays firm with the master plan. This really requires everyone's buy in (mayor, council, zoning board, planning commission) to stick to the long-term vision and not accede to whiny developers who promise to throw up auto centric schlock.

Contractors sought for southern piece of Delaware River walking, cycling trail
Updated: DECEMBER 15, 2017 — 2:39 PM EST
http://www.philly.com/philly/busines...-20171215.html

The city-government-affiliated nonprofit that oversees development along central Philadelphia’s Delaware River waterfront has begun soliciting bids from contractors interested in building the southernmost portion of a 3.3.-mile walking and cycling trail planned between Fishtown and South Philadelphia.

The 940-foot-long expanse would run south from Tasker Avenue to the Pier 68 recreational site, largely beside the parking lot for the Walmart-anchored Pier 70 shopping center, according to a request-for-proposal document posted this week to the website of the Delaware River Waterfront Corp. (DRWC).

The document gives contractors a Jan. 22 deadline to enter bids for the portion of the landscaped trail with separate protected lanes for walkers and cyclists.

The only variance they need is for the signage. The building is by-rights under CMX-3.

According to a Fishtown Neighbors Association zoning meeting agenda:

ADDRESS/LOCATION:
1043-69 N Front Street
APPLICATION FOR:
Erection of nine illuminated flatwall signs for by-right/previously approved vehicle sales and rental building (Carvana). Mounting height of 75'-4" is proposed for eight of the nine signs.

Here are the L&I permits for the location:

Anyone know if the Heid building in Callowhill is under construction yet?

The article below mentions activity was supposed to begin in November - haven't been by there in a while.
