China: another day, another supertall... I'm amazed at how fast this is going up.

I'm amazed someone built a 1,400 tower and called it "kinky."

Damn, that is one fine looking building. And it will probably be finished before I'm able to build my backyard shack, it's really growing fast!
Can't believe that Shenzhen was a small village back in the 70's!!
Anyway, this is one of the best looking projects I've seen so far!

Ha, China actually builds buildings rather than just letting them sit proposed for years awaiting tenants. This building is nicer too because NY has abandoned building tall.

NY could only dream of the skyscrapers that are being built in Shenzhen. All they seem to build are boxy towers.

Really? You must not know what's going up in New York right now. One world trade center, two world trade center, three world trade center, carnegie 57 all are over a thousand feet and none of them look to generic and boxy, in fact they are the most well designed skyscrapers going up in the world right now. But hey that just my opinion

cripes, it is easy to miss these new supertalls, on account of the sheer volume of them going up in China.

Any idea when the external cladding would be finished?

F***'n A. Except the part about "world's best tower" - I'd have to wait to see it partially completed before I could say that yea or nay. This Kinky Tower or whatever it's called, it's tripe.

Hi everybody this is my first post and I just wanted to say that I'm pretty sure this tower has already been finished

So that picture makes it look pretty finished and I found out that the hotel at the top opened in September and I don't know how they could open a hotel when it's not finished but if there are any mistakes in my post could you please tell me cause I don't wanna look stupid

I believe there's still some interior work being done before the tower is completely finished. That being said, the S:t Regis Hotel has definitely opened already.

I like how this tower meets the street (all photos by the boys over at Gao Lou Mi):

Dare we call this skyscraper of the year?
