There used to be an awesome old building where Addition Elle is now. I'm assuming it's new and not just a po-mo make over of the old building?

Curious. The diagram shows a podium?

I wonder where they think that's going?

They are demolishing the historic block that sits at the southeast corner of the site fronting on Yonge Street. The podium will go there. They plan on re-constructing a likeness of the historic building on the northeast corner of the lot.

Any word on why they need a podium? Is it simply to get Yonge St. Frontage or are they wanting to add some sort of amenity space? Stuff like parking is already well integrated into the site.

That was quick. From what I saw walking by the site 2-weeks ago, demo had not been complete. The southeast corner of the site still a debris and a small section of an underground parking entrance left to demo.

Unless this under ground parking structure is part of this project?

Part of the foundation was completed in the early 90's and/or late 1980's. Although not quite sure the positioning of this foudation, enough of it must exist to allow for the crane to be installed. The parking for the entire site was completed in the 1990's. This one will not require much excavation, and I expect it to rise fast once the debris from demolition has been cleared.

I'll be down there today and will try to get an update in before it gets too dark.

Here is a picture of the mobile crane

I guess the real crane will get there when they clear the demolition rubble

I say move to construction when the permanent crane gets there, until then we don't have real proof that they are working off the existing foundation or building a new one (which I do not suspect)

The hole in the ground is where the concrete core will rise. The crane will be erected there and the building will be steel frame.
