Is it possible this is for the entire project to be done, and not just 300 Main? IIRC they said that the 300 tower would be done first with the middle part (330 Main) to be completed after.

I'm chomping at the bit to see how the tower and the middle part is going to integrate with Winnipeg Square below. I'm thinking how can it not end up being entirely different down there. Maybe not so much from the tower, but that middle section would change everything, no?

Initial thoughts or hopes are that main floor would be open to WS like Portage Place or Polo Park, however it all depends on the use of the main floor. If the retail on the main floor is shared common space with multiple units, could work. However if this supposed grocery store or some sort of major tenant takes up most of the main floor, maybe not.

I hope there is some way to preserve at least part of the atrium...

I concur. The atrium would be nice to preserve. I am also envisioning an additional floor or 2 which will be cut out looking down towards the open atrium.
That would make the entire complex look big city and obviously offer more amenities and stores, services.

There is a plan to build an escalator in the middle of 330 Main. This will connect the WS main floor to whatever they are building, so most likely an open concept. The sun shining in WS is nice.

Perhaps 330 Main will house the new HYATT PLACE hotel?
Hyatt announced it the other day plus another in the burbs called Hyatt House
With 144 rooms for the downtown hotel, it could work. Opening says 2019?
Back in time when Winnipeg Square was originally built, that middle space (360) was rumored to have bean a proposal for a Hyatt Regency.

^Artis said the middle portion (330 Main) would be the last phase of the whole project – can't see it being ready before 2020.

I believe it was robertocarlos that mentioned a few days back that the crane was to go up today (June 12). Maybe he can provide an update.

I think what bakguy might have been suggesting is something like the top X floors of the tower at Main and Graham would be the Hyatt with residential in the middle and a hotel lobby at ground level.

I saw a really great photo this morning from high up in 360 Main of the worksite on Twitter and was going to post it but I cannot find it anymore.

Yes Cory that would be one way to go.
Perhaps that tower could reach beyond 40 floors with that concept or.. possibly building the entire hotel @ 330.Only Artis knows for sure.
The original plan was for a Hyatt hotel back around 1979-1980.
Less than 8 floors around an indoor atrium.

I'm pretty curious where they plan on placing the crane? I don't really see an area they have cleared for it. I guess with the rain it will be delayed again, looks like saturday would have been a better day to put it up.

That would be crazy/hilarious if the plans from 40 years ago came back to life and Hyatt went in here. It’s a fantastic location for a hotel, with indoor parking & skywalk connection, and minutes from The Forks and The Exchange.

plot twist: the building is extended to 50 floors to house the hotel. Bonus: top floor has an observation deck and a restaurant, cause us humans have a weird obsession with looking over cities.

Just daydreaming, but it would be sweet.
