I can't wait to see the finished product. It's so hard to tell how a building will turn out when it's U/C.

Finally can see the very top of the core from Iron Hill in Delaware, 42 miles away. It's very clear out so I decided to go take some pics this morning. You can see the 3 buildings, Comcast Technology, Comcast, and the Spire from Liberty at right. Now you might be thinking "looks too close to be 42 miles away".

Well below pic is more of a naked eye view with previous pic area in Red. In the foreground in Wilmington 12 miles distant (30 miles from Philly).

Perhaps the furthest land picture taken!

Damn. That's impressive. I know you can see Wilmington from the Liberty Observation Deck, so it makes sense that you could see Philly from past Wilmington. Comcast Innovation's spire will be harder to see from far distances than Comcast, probably.

Thanks, and yes the spire should be harder to see because it is thinner, but still possible.

From the observation deck, on a clear day, you can see Iron Hill where I am standing to take photo (below photo), just look to the right of Wilmington. It the furthest object I've been able to find. Kind of surprised you can't see Atlantic City, they said you will be able to see it from Comcast Technology.

You would have to add Philly to that statement. There was a thread somewhere called the furthest city skyline photo or something (not sure if it was on SSP) and there were some pretty amazing shots there.

Here is Montreal, Canada taken from the US, southwest of Plattsburg, NY. about 120 km/75 miles away.

Cool pic! and yes I meant the Comcast Technology center specifically, it is perhaps the first picture of the building to be taken from that far away. I know that seems silly but I've always had a weird obsession with how far you can see skylines from.

Saturday:

Sunday. I took this picture to compare the glass color of IBX and Comcast on a gray day.

One lone beam going up for the next final floors. Hopefully more join it tomorrow before the much needed break for everyone!

I bet you'll see it just fine from afar, at nighttime, all lit up!

I hope it's made to light up in more than just white.

I just hope it's bright and not like the full lighting of CC1 and the LP lighting. Center city looks dead at night with the lighting schemes.

Here's hoping that the FMC Tower ups the game for the other towers:

and that the Mormon Temple does the same for up-lighting closer to street level:

It's about time that a city that aspires to be a world-class cultural and tourist destination, lit itself properly.

I also wish there was some spot lighting on BAT or something that shows off its details at night. I expect that W will be unlit (at least on north side) due to RATR.

Foster's Commerzbank Tower in Frankfurt - which has a lot of similarities to CTC - big, industrial feel, skygardens, and tall cooling tower/lantern - is very bright at night. According to wiki, "The building is lighted at night with a yellow lighting scheme that was designed by Thomas Ende who was allowed to display this sequence as a result of a competition."

CTC renderings show a white lighting - to go with the lighter colored skygardens at the tops of the hotel and commercial space. Lets just hope it is as bright as Commerzbank Tower.

I think/hope this rendering by Mike Bianchini Media - Flickr, will be fairly accurate:

THat tower in Frankfurt appears to have yellowish spot lighting shining up at the spire, rather than CTC's (probable) LED lighting built-in to the blade thing. Not optimistic about this one, but hoping to be surprised.

A friend of mine just said it would be funny if someone projected the Eye of Sauron on CC1. I mean it's what I think of every time I see that building anyway

Some people have asked me my opinion of Lord Norman Foster's design ... but I am going to withhold any critique until the structure is actually completed.

like it or not, it will be the new defining Philadelphia image. Right up there with the Transamerica tower in San Francisco. The lighting and the final finishes will matter so much
