I love the railing with the V-8 logos.

I'm pretty sure that this was part of the Canada pavilion.

My familiarity with these late 20th Century fairs comes primarily from Viewmaster stereoscope slides LOL. However, in the case of Expo '67, the fairgrounds were left intact (albeit empty) through the early '80s; you could actually ride the monorail around the deserted fairgrounds, but you couldn't disembark. Made quite an impression on me as a kid.

^^^Ah, yes, the Viewmaster....that's how I first got interested in the world fairs.

I didn't know the Montreal fair site was left intact for so long (and with a running monorail).
It's great that you got to see it.

^^^That's a fantastic collection of photographs wrabbit. Thx for posting.

I'll have to google 'Gyrotron'.
The word sounds like something out of Woody Allen's "Sleeper'.

Wow thanks for all the great photos of Expo 67 (Montreal). The fair lived on for a bit more than a decade as "Man and His World"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expo_67

Many of the Pavilions were around in the late 1970s (albeit in disrepair: the cover of Bucky's geodesic dome burned spectacularly in 5 minutes in 1976), and others until the 1980s (e.g., UK), while a few survive today (notably, France/Quebec as the Casino de Montreal).

The lines in the Seine are the movement of boats, how cool is that?

A World Expo, probably the largest in history, will be held in Shanghai this year from May until October. This photo from the top of the Lupu bridge shows the Expo Park under construction (in October 2009). The park is on both sides of the river, but the permanent structures are on the east side of the river, which is on the right in this photo (including the iconic China Pavilion)

The China pavilion is at the very centre of this photograph, which shows the major structures on the east side of the river.
