Holy cow, that's awesome! And that chummy penguin is pretty cool, too.

Had there been digital photography when I wintered over in McMurdo, Antarctica in 1976-77, I might have topped it. But . . . .

Anyway, nice shots of Antarctica's unique "blue" icebergs and wildlife (more varieties than one might see at McMurdo closer to the pole). It's all very nostalgic.

I really enjoyed your pictures. Thanks for sharing, it must have been a wonderful experience, but I kept wondering how cold it was there.

Just out of curiosity, what company did you use to book your trip? How much did it cost? PM me if you don't want to publicize it.

I went with Quark Expeditions. As for cost, it is really a sliding scale. Depending on length of trip, cabin, ship etc. Pretty much a sliding scale from $4000 to $10,000+ USD.

WOW! Totally amazing scenery. Nice.

When the weather heats up in the summer here in Phoenix. This is really about the only thing I feel like doing.

Floating around on my very own icecube. Yeah!

Yeah the seals chilling on the icebergs were pretty cool. Most of those pictures were taken when we went on a zodiac cruise around what they call an iceberg graveyard. Usually a channel or bay where icebergs float in and get grounded. It was early evening and all the seals were just chilling on the ice after a long day of eating penguins and stuff! Although a few seals would play around the zodiac, circling it and diving under and such.

I have never posted in this forum.. but this thread is just adorable, amazing.. exotic..

I would have straight up stole a penguin.. they look so cute.. but I'd steal his girlfriend too, since they're monogamous.

I wanted to steal me a penguin as well. We could have had some great adventures back here in Canada. But I had to settle for just coming back with my wife!

amazing stuff, Antartica has always been on the list, but this makes me want to book a trip now - you should collect a fee from Quark for any SSP related bookings
