Bo Levi Mitchell works out for the Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills worked out quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell Tuesday, per NFL sources.

The workout was Mitchell’s fifth for an NFL team in December after the Minnesota Vikings flew the reigning CFL most outstanding player in for an up-close look, while the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears did the same.

Mitchell capped yet another stellar season in 2018 by leading the Calgary Stampeders to a CFL championship. The 28-year-old became the first player in league history to throw for more than 5,000 yards without having a single receiver record 1,000 yards. Despite an ever-changing receiving core, Mitchell adapted on the fly and still led the CFL in touchdown passes with 35.

Mitchell has two Grey Cups, two CFL title game MVP awards and two CFL MOP trophies on his resume.

Shame to see CFL stars tryout down south, but it's been a long time reality. The part that's frustrating is so many of them have short stints in the NFL, and end up coming back, but they're never the same player when they come back.

I used to think Mitchell was over-rated and that he was just a decent QB on a great team, but seeing him have the season he had with all the injuries to his receivers has made me change my mind.

I have no problem with that at all, it's more proof that the leagues are not all that far apart as concerning talent. It's especially useful when those players are CIS trained as is becoming more and more common.

Adam Bighill. I think that might just be a perception that because they didn't stay in the NFL they are a failure.

Plus it shows American players the CFL is another route to the NFL. Mathews and Rogers both looked pretty good coming back to the Stamps this year after stints in the NFL and Bighill was even better than before he left. Good luck to all the guys trying out.

Not that they're viewed as a failure, just that they aren't the same player statistically, or they don't came back at all.

It sucks to lose talented players for those who make a career of it in the NFL, but we can't fault them for trying.

There are players who return and don't live up to their early promise (such as Casey "get your popcorn ready, folks... your chips and cakes" Printers, albeit coming back to a shit team... there are others as well)

Many success stories too though. Some of the more well known names, just from perusing the CFL record list: Daved Benefield, Arland Bruce, Henry Burris, Tom Clements, Dave Dickenson, Solomon Elimimian, Andy Fantuz, Justin Medlock, Mike O'Shea, Byron Parker, Mike Pringle, Ricky Ray, Jamel Richardson, Marcus Thigpen, Chris Williams, Henry (Gizmo) Williams, Earl Winfield.
