Changing City Updates ( http://changingcitybook.com/2015/04/...st-1st-avenue/ ) Posted the following:

2-26 East 1st Avenue

Here’s a rezoning of a rezoning. Pinnacle and their architects, Bingham Hill, already obtained an earlier rezoning several years ago for a slightly smaller building on the last site they own in South East False Creek. Now that their building on the adjacent site to the west, The One is nearing completion they’re looking to redesign their next project.

I believe this is where The One showroom is today, plus a mini-park.

Regarding the model for 2-26 East 1st, let's all note that there is a lot of white/green spandrel and blank painted concrete surfaces. Therefore, it should come as no surprise to anyone when the real thing has... a lot of white/green spandrel and blank painted concrete surfaces. If you object to the design and its ample allotment of white/green spandrel and blank concrete surfaces, make your opinions known by writing to the Mayor and Council when he project goes for its rezoning, and when that has no impact (because rezoning is only focuses on use, form, and density), make your opinions known to the Development Permit Board when the project goes for its DP.

True that replacing the white glass spandrels with the green metallic claddings would be much more preferred.

I think those blank painted concrete surfaces you're referring to will actually be the same metal composite paneling used on Pinnacle's/Bingham Hill's Broadway project. At least one can hope, though it's always a sketchy proposition with Pinnacle.

Is Central the highest building in the OV/Main St. area?

No. Opsal is taller in OV and all of Citygate is taller on Main Street.

I wasn't considering Citygate, but yes Opsal looks taller in that last pic too.

Lido is equal height, but Opsal is slightly taller. Unfortunately no large units on rental market from Opsal, so I haven't got the chance to check out the view from there. What would be putting me off in that building is that huge parking lot / park-to-be. It is so depressing even in these photos.

Love your latest set of photos Klazu. They don't get enough recognition, indeed -- particularly in the Canada section. But here too, so thank you! I enjoy them very much.

Any word on when Concert False Creek Presentation Centre will open? Sales Centre Looks almost finished.

And any idea what type of retail will go into the condo under construction across from the Craft Beer? And in the old Olympic Village Sales Centre site?

I'm not sure that there's been any announcements on the commercial spaces at The One. (accross from CRAFT).

I've heard rumours that the former presentation centre is going to be a sushi joint... but that could just be wishful thinking.

Dentist offices seems to be going up in almost every new development. I wonder why the recent boom?
