Federal Donuts to open East Market spot

Good news for lovers of doughnuts and fried chicken – popular chain Federal Donuts will join the East Market project.

Federal Donuts signed a lease for 1,180 square feet of space at the East Market project, announced Monday by National Real Estate Development.

The concept is from restaurateurs Chef Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook of CookNSolo Restaurant Partners, which also owns and operates Zahav, Dizengoff, Abe Fisher and Goldie.

The East Market Federal Donuts will open this fall.

Just to clarify on the window installation on the top floor: it looks like these are actually being installed completely from the inside without the need for a hoist above, which could be possible given that the surrounding cladding has already been installed.

Shake Shack's buttermilk chicken sandwich is damn good too! Plus you can get a brewski with it.

What I found most interesting about this announcement was within Federal Donut's Instagram post: the space they leased is actually in the Stephen Girard Building.

I know there were rumblings of the building's renovation and restoration into a hotel space, but I didn't know that those plans ever got off the ground or were formally announced. Aside from the rental offices for the Ludlow, the building has been vacated. Does anyone know if the project was confirmed or if it has a timeline?

Good catch! I’ve checked out their Instagram page now. 2019 launch in Stephen firard. I hope that DOES mean they are getting to work. Would be odd for this to be there on its own.

I hope SEPTA, at some point, gets with the billboard program and adds some large digital signage to 1234 Market. I bet they could petition the city to forego the million$$ improvement requirement. I mean, a cash strapped agency earning an extra few hundred thousand $$ a year for having prime real-estate seems like a no-brainer.

There's a tower crane installed on top of the Gallery, are they building a high rise?

It would be very exciting if they were starting this. 1000 Filbert Street?
