Looks like an annhorexic version of WaMu's new HQ in Seattle.

Really not that bad, though.

Not bad at all indeed. This and the nearby towers provide a nice midrise (I'm using "midrise" for 600+ footers, heh) base for the supertall cluster that will hopefully rise up on the MSG site or immediately near it. Besides, being spaced out fairly evenly with smaller buildings, these towers are so far creating quite an interesting skyline for Midtown South. Rather than having a dense cluster of tall bulky towers (e.g. downtown, midtown), it's becoming more of a mid-rise pre-war neighborhood pierced with slender and rather tall towers, anchored by the Madison Square cluster and, of course, the ESB, with newcomers such as Sky House, One Madison and now these guys on 6th Avenue adding a great deal to the picture. Eventually I see this creating a skyline effect similar to classic pre-war Midtown image of slender towers rising out a midrise cityscape, except this time the cityscape will be surrounded by powerful clusters of Midtown to the north, MSG/West Side to the west and hopefully something decent at ConEd site to the east.

Damn, that would be

I don't like it from this angle, but a better rendering could probably change that.

Don't like the design of this one so much, but glad to see progress.

I think its a lousy rendering. I have a feeling the building will easily out shine the rendering.

Some photos over in WNY show that this bldg construction is now above street level, maybe 2-3 floors by now.

We need an updated photo of 839 Sixth Ave. Last time I walked by it was about two stories above street level.

These are the last pics of the site from Wired New York. From these pics, the tower is two stories above grade.

Definitely a stealth/sleeper project in the sense that it going on a little unnoticed given all the construction on 6th Avenue and Manhattan in general.
