It looks pretty standard sized to me. They will jack it up 3 or 4 times as the building rises.

I doubt it. This crane is only for the parkade. At the end of the parkade portion of the project, this crane will be removed and other cranes erected for the tower projects.

can see 1 regular tower and 1 Luffer tower crane ( where jib arm is angled upwards ) or 2 luffers for these 2 towers.

after seeing the "mini" tower crane we have on site now, i cant see 2 of the same model being able to work so close together. especially if we may have a 3rd later this year.

that'll be an interesting site to see 3 going at once on such a small site. cant wait to actually see the buildings rise above grade. this project + remai will look amazing once its done.

So why don't you think this crane won't be used for the condo/hotel project, it looks like it will cover both towers. Do you think they will build these two towers which are back to back separately? Doesn't really make sense but who knows.

I'm just basing my comments on conversations with individuals involved with the projects. I was told that Stuart Olson and Bockstael couldn't or wouldn't agree on the transfer of the crane from one contractor to the other and that Bockstael was planning on using two cranes for the towers.

I do agree that it seems odd to not collaborate to make use of a crane for which the cost of the crane base and erection has already been paid.

They're competitors. Big contractors are always asses to everyone, including each other.

i agree with you also, save on costs.

do you think the timeline of the towers required the use of 2 cranes ? seeing as the hotel still says 2018 completion and 2019 condo.

I haven't heard much of anything about the above ground work yet. But I believe a local Foundation Company is in negotiation for the above grade concrete work. I haven't seen drawings for the floor plans as I'm to understand they aren't complete yet.

Several workers on site at 8pm on a Sunday.

Second level slab has already been poured in the south-west corner.

Thanks for the update SaskE30, are we under construction yet or still classified as site prep.

As far as I know, the convention is that a project is classified as "Site Prep" until it breaches ground level.

I noticed in the article that they added a floor and 30,000 sq feet to the office. I believe the original plan was for a 12 floor 155,000 sq foot tower. Now so they shrink the 3rd tower or apply for a higher cap than 455, 000 sq feet of office space for the land. This is good news which means they will be digging as soon as they get that fill out of the way.

Edit* I was wrong about the floors and sq footage for the building. According to the MVA approvals it was 13 floors and 195, 000 sqft depending on amenities. So I suspect they have at least a decent gym going in on one of the floors.

In the article it mentions 95 metres for the stage three office tower. That's a shit load more office space.

The pace seems to be picking up. Works on site @ 7:30pm. Some of the second have now been cast and it looks like the rest of the second floor slab is days away from being poured.
