"Ensemble has been involved in the development of several hotels in Southern California including the Holiday Inn Bayview Plaza in Santa Monica and the Hilton Hotel in Long Beach."

This is one of the f-ed up stories in architectural news and on one is even talking about!

This is one of new Coolist things I've seen. 80s Retro aesthetic and there's no outrage what's so ever to it's destruction. There is no serious historic preservation, just excuses by NIMBYs to block development. There are very few places like that left. When the 80s mall interior s have been destroyed.

Aside from excessive parking, this Hoover/Wilshire project is nearly perfect.

It looks like they have finished most of the major excavation work at the Rams' stadium, and I gotta say - that hole is HUGE!

Another "radical overhaul" for the new Zumthor building at LACMA?

http://www.architecturalrecord.com/a...g-a-curve-ball

Zumthor also mentioned (twice) “one big tower going to the sky” — which would be a major new element (though hard to reconcile with his single-level idea).

So, did he, as one stunned audience member put it, “drop a bombshell”? Has the design changed significantly yet again — or was Zumthor merely bringing Goldberger up to date on the August scheme? The museum is denying any grand transformation, but it has also scheduled Zumthor to discuss his plans publicly on April 5, as part of the ongoing “Director’s Series,” hosted by Michael Govan, head of LACMA. So, stay tuned.

Possible red line subway extension down Vermont avenue instead of a stupid rapid bus line that would most likely be converted to rail anyways after a few decades. Makes more sense since that corridor is the second most traveled after Wiltshire boulevard.

Oh man, a Vermont subway line would be absolutely transformational. In a good way.
